“It’s a girl”

In a decision that directly affects no one (okay - eventually William and Kate’s kids), the British Monarchy changed royal succession rules ending precedence to sons over daughters as heirs to the throne. Additionally, royals are now free to marry Roman Catholics. (Huzzah!)

The two centuries old rules were modified by the Queen while visiting the remote village, Perth, in the far west of Australia. (Apparently QE2 got turned around on her way to the loo and ended up Down Under.)
