Ann Curry bids a tearful farewell to Today. But she does get one final dig in:

They’re giving me some fancy new titles, which essentially means that I’m going to get tickets to every big story we want to cover.

Those fancy new titles are: Today Anchor at Large and National and International Correspondent for NBC News. What a mouthful. [Watch her say goodbye here]

There is no tomorrow. USA Today reports that this morning is Ann Curry’s last day on Today.

It’s “going to be a bit of a tough day,” she told USA TODAY in a 40-minute phone interview Wednesday, sounding as though she were fighting back tears. “I’m going to have to tell our viewers. That’s what makes me more emotional than anything. I don’t want to leave them. I love them. And I will really miss them.”

According to Politico, the early numbers are in:

For Tuesday: TODAY averaged 5.497 million total viewers, +356,000 ahead of GMA (5.141 million).  TODAY averaged a 1.8 in A25-54 rating (2.209 million), +2 tenths (+292,000) ahead of GMA.

Unfortunately for GMA, this is the second day in a row that Today has beat them during this week’s ratings battle. [image]
