Apparently BuzzFeed is out. (I guess it’s time to find a new job.)

We’re just weary of the 25-GIFs-That-Will-Restore-Your-Faith-in-Cats’-Humanity ethos, and tired of lists in general. Wait…

For the record: My cat never restored my faith in humanity. But this GIF did.
(Also returning the mason jar wine glasses I got for Xmas. Tears and such.)

Year In Review: 14 Things BuzzFeed Taught Me In 2012.
(On a side note: I still can’t believe IWK has over 30K followers, Texts From Hillary became a thing, I now work at BuzzFeed and I got to meet/interview the cast of “Bachelorette” [among other things]. What a crazy year.)

How Azealia Banks Made Me Fierce by Jamieson Cox:

Banks goes further than the hat-tips to proud sexuality offered by the likes of Katy Perry in “Firework” and Ke$ha in “We R Who We R” by referencing seminal movements and moments in the history of queer culture. The courage of this decision is only amplified by her chosen art form, given the hip-hop community’s current status as one of America’s final remaining bastions of homophobia in pop culture. In a personal sense, I appreciate Banks’ contribution because of my own experience with the distancing effect that can result from encounters with homophobic lyric.

They are going to look at the broader world of music, and report on artists, scenes, fan communities, and the industry and technological forces that affect how music is made, marketed and consumed. Our trusty guide is the super, awesome Matt Perpetua. You may know him from FluxBlog and his contributions to Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, SPIN and MTV.
