[SPOILER] No Longer On Top. In his third Olympic appearance, Michael Phelps performs his worst yet. Not only did he barely make it through his first heat in the 400-Meter Individual Medley (by less than a second), he did even worse during the final. In his first showdown against Ryan Lochte, Phelps failed to medal in the event. While Lochte took gold, Phelps came in a dismal fourth. In his first Olympic games, Phelps took gold in the same event with a world record and in Beijing he beat his own record for a place atop of the medal stand.  The IM is not the only showdown with Lochte who now has the mental advantage over Phelps. They will compete again in the 200-Meter Individual Medley.
